Jojoba oil (Simmondsia Chinensis) is the liquid produced in the seed of the Jojoba plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba oil is rich in essential nutrients with vitamins E and B contributing to its ability to effectively hydrate hair. As well, it is rich in iodine giving it properties to fight against bacterial and fungal problems.
Jojoba oil’s molecular structure is similar to sebum, the natural oil that our skin produces, which makes it great use for scalp oil. The oil contains a high proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids, primarily 11-Eicosenoic acid (Gondoic acid). Since 98% of the fats are monounsaturated, it can penetrate the hair follicle and strengthen hair fibres from the inside.
